A midnight crash involving three vehicles shook the Nong Han traffic light intersection in Udon Thani province, leaving over 10 people injured.
On 6 June 2026 at approximately 02:47, Nong Han Hospital 2 in Nong Han district, Udon Thani province, received reports of a collision involving more than three vehicles. Over 10 people were injured and trapped on Nitayo Road (Udon-Sakon), at the eastern Nong Han traffic light intersection in Nong Han subdistrict, Nong Han district, Udon Thani.
Emergency responders from Nong Han Hospital, Sawang Methawi Rescue Nong Han, nearby support units, Sawang Methatham Phon Ngam Rescue, and Sawang Methatham Sathan Foundation Udon Thani arrived with cutting tools and lighting equipment to extract one injured person trapped inside a rambutan truck. The victim was identified as Mr. Thanawin, 20 years old.
Among the passengers in the van, 4 out of 12 traveling together were injured. Rescue volunteers provided initial first aid. Emergency teams from Nong Han Hospital and Sawang Methawi Rescue Nong Han transported the injured to Nong Han Hospital. Police investigators from Nong Han police station are examining the incident.
A 34-year-old female van driver said she was carrying passengers from Samut Prakan en route to Bueng Kan province. When she reached the scene, she stopped at the red light behind a BMW. Shortly after, a vehicle crashed into the rear of the van with full force, causing it to overturn. Passengers inside were injured, and she said she did not know what had happened.
The BMW driver said he arrived first and stopped at the red light. Then the van pulled up behind him. While stopped, he saw headlights approaching from behind and was hit with full force. Fortunately, neither he nor his wife were injured.
The 20-year-old rambutan truck driver could not yet give a statement as he was trapped in the wreckage. Rescue teams used cutting tools to free him after about 30 minutes and took him to Nong Han Hospital.
The exact cause of the accident is under investigation by the police at Nong Han police station.
