In Mukdahan, a 20-year-old woman took her 17-year-old sister out of their home after their grandmother evicted them. This was because they reported their biological father for drug use and rape, which led to the grandmother's son being imprisoned. They feared for their safety.
A reporter stated that on 29 May 2026 at 9:00 p.m., Mr. Songsit Sarakit, owner of the Facebook page "Songsit (Uncle Techin) Sarakit," received a request for help from a 20-year-old woman called Nong A and her 17-year-old sister Nong B. They wanted assistance to file a complaint and find a new place to live outside their home. Their biological father, aged 40, habitually uses methamphetamine and attempted to rape Nong B at their home in Phon Sai Subdistrict, Mueang District, Mukdahan Province. The incident occurred on the night of 26 May 2026 but was unsuccessful. Such abuse was not isolated to the 17-year-old; the elder sister, aged 20, had been raped twice, at ages 13 and 17, resulting in successful sexual assault.
After filing the complaint, police arrested the father the following day. He was detained pending trial and charged with rape and attempted rape under the law.
On 11 June 2026, reporters learned that the grandmother, who is the biological mother of the accused, evicted both granddaughters from the house. She refused to let them live there because she was angry that they reported their son, leading to his imprisonment. The two girls endured discomfort for about seven days before deciding to move out and rent a small room in the Tad Kaen community within Mukdahan municipality, starting 5 June.
Nong A revealed that their grandmother was very angry because she could not provide bail money for her son after his arrest. She took out her frustration on them, blaming them for causing her son to be jailed. The grandmother also forced them to change their surname and expelled them from the house. Enduring constant verbal abuse day and night, they decided to rent a room for safety. Nong A said staying at home was dangerous, especially returning from work in the dark, not knowing what might happen. Moving out to rent a room was safer and brought peace of mind, even though it meant bearing extra expenses.
