Aunt Waew Not Cleared, Charged with Joint Theft of First Prize Lottery

In the recent lottery scandal in Sukhothai, police have summoned "Aunt Waew" for further questioning before charging her with joint theft of the first prize lottery ticket after her husband claimed he acted alone.

On 12 Jun 2026 GMT+7, regarding the 6 million baht lottery controversy in Sukhothai, reporters reported that officers from Sawankhalok Police Station summoned Aunt Waew, wife of Uncle Det, for additional questioning by investigators at the station. This followed Uncle Det's confession yesterday that he alone hid Aunt Khayan's lottery ticket number 173770 at a field hut before burning it out of fear of legal consequences. However, police remain skeptical of Uncle Det’s statement and therefore called Aunt Waew in for further questioning.

Recently, Pol. Col. Nikom Prompiram, Superintendent of Sawankhalok Police Station, revealed that the investigation has now focused on Aunt Waew, as she was the one who kept the lottery ticket. Police have charged Aunt Waew with joint theft and will consider other charges as the inquiry continues.
