Update on tragic accident '11-year-old child' stole pickup truck and drove into 'meditating monks' Latest black case adds 1 death, total now 9 fatalities
On 2 July 2026, Mr. Worayan Boonnarath, Governor of Mukdahan Province, held a press conference regarding a major accident on route 2034 between Mukdahan Province and Don Tan District, resulting in numerous deaths and injuries.(List of "injured and deceased" from the pickup truck collision with "meditating monks" in Mukdahan Province)
Initially, 5 monks died at the scene and 3 more died at the hospital, totaling 8. Volunteer rescue teams and emergency medical staff arrived at the scene within 10 minutes and transferred all injured to Mukdahan Hospital. Currently, there are 4 patients in critical condition (red) and 10 in moderate condition (yellow).
Most recently, Facebookof the Mukdahan Provincial Public Relations Officeposted a message stating, "Latest update: 1 more death added to black case from pickup truck hitting meditating monks, total deaths now 9."
