CCTV footage captures a pickup truck "11-year-old boy" driving about 10 kilometers from home before crashing into pilgrim monks. Meanwhile, "Oi Saengsin" traveled to arrange for his father's body, revealing he was still shocked and deeply saddened by the incident.
Regarding the major accident on route 2034 between Mukdahan Province and Don Tan District, an 11-year-old lost control of a pickup truck, crashing into pilgrim monks and causing multiple deaths and injuries.
At 11:00 p.m. on 2 July 2026, Mukdahan Hospital reported updates on the accident victims, confirming that Phra Sakon Klangsungnoen had died, becoming the 10th fatality, while Phra Somkiat Monipornnatchai was transferred for further treatment at Sunpasitthiprasong Hospital in Ubon Ratchathani Province.
Meanwhile, families of the injured and deceased pilgrim monks traveled to Mukdahan Hospital, most coming from Nam Khun District, Ubon Ratchathani Province. Among them was Oi Saengsin, a singer known as the "Parade Car King," who lost his father, Phra Ratchata Thongburan.
Oi Saengsin flew into Nakhon Phanom Province and then traveled by car to Mukdahan Hospital to inquire about receiving the body. He told reporters that his father had been ordained for some time without any warning signs and they had recently talked normally about sound equipment because his father was training to become a preacher monk and was checking microphone gear.
The night before the accident, he hardly slept due to heavy work and saw no signs. Although they didn't speak every day, they kept in contact regularly. Regarding the funeral, it is still unclear how the monks will proceed or organize the rites; discussions will take place about whether to hold a joint ceremony or separate ones.
He expressed shock and great sadness, saying it was the first news he received after waking up. He tried to contact the abbot but could not reach him and thought maybe he was busy before the news became clear.
CCTV evidence from roads near the scene captured the pickup truck’s movements at three points before the accident. At 10:41 a.m., the truck was seen driving from the house against traffic.
Then at 10:44 a.m., CCTV at the Ban Nakham Noi checkpoint recorded the pickup passing without crossing into oncoming lanes, quickly moving along. At 10:52 a.m., the accident occurred when the truck struck the pilgrim monks about 10 kilometers from the home.
