Furniture Factory Fire in Korat with Explosions Raises Fears of Flammable Glue and Thinner

A fire broke out at a furniture factory in Korat, with explosions heard intermittently. There are concerns that glue and thinner acted as fuel, prompting a rapid mobilization of firefighting forces to control the blaze for over three hours.

At around 11:00 a.m. on 5 July 2026, a fire erupted at a furniture factory located in Chor Hor subdistrict, Mueang Nakhon Ratchasima district, Nakhon Ratchasima province. Local residents who saw smoke and flames quickly alerted authorities to respond.

Upon notification, firefighters with multiple fire trucks rushed to control the situation. Meanwhile, police from Chor Hor Station blocked traffic and facilitated safety measures around the area due to the large amount of flammable materials inside the factory and periodic explosion-like sounds, which alarmed nearby residents.

It is initially known that the factory produces furniture and employs over 100 workers. However, since it was Sunday, no one was working inside, resulting in no injuries or deaths. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

It is suspected that the presence of wood, sawdust, glue, and thinner—all flammable materials—inside the factory contributed to the rapid spread of the fire and the intermittent explosions.

Fire officials reported that firefighting efforts continue as the fire has spread into a warehouse containing Class A fuel materials, mainly wood, making the blaze intense and difficult to extinguish.

Officials estimate it may take at least three hours to control the fire, as they cannot yet safely access the fire's origin point. Careful planning and assessment by commanders are required, amid concerns that glue, thinner, and other flammable substances inside the building could cause further explosions or flare-ups at any time.

Currently, all units remain fully engaged in controlling the situation, closely monitoring to prevent the fire from spreading to other buildings. A thorough investigation into the fire's cause will be conducted once the fire is fully contained.
