Mourning "Nong Oom," a rescue volunteer who died in the brewery fire, her body has arrived in her hometown in Buriram Province. The family is preparing the site for religious ceremonies. Her mother is heartbroken and revealed her daughter volunteered for many years because she enjoyed helping people.
On 15 Jul 2026 GMT+7, in the morning, the Poh Teck Tung Foundation brought the body of Ms. Yodakan, also known as Oom, aged 32, one of the victims of the brewery fire at Lat Phrao, to Wat Mai Thai Charoen in Hu Thamnop Subdistrict, Pakham District, Buriram Province for traditional religious rites in her hometown.
According to the medical examination, Nong Oom died from "asphyxiation due to smoke inhalation" and is the second victim from Buriram Province in this incident. The first victim was Ms. Maneerat, also known as Jib, from Lam Plai Mat District.
Mrs. Boonsong Sribut, 55, Nong Oom's mother, said her daughter loved helping others and had volunteered as a rescue worker in Kalasin and Khon Kaen provinces for many years. She has a 13-year-old son with her former husband, whom Mrs. Boonsong is raising. She then told her daughter to pause volunteering and focus on earning money to support her son's education.
Her daughter then moved to Bangkok to work and sent money to her mother every month. She usually called her mother and son regularly and was preparing to return home soon for the rice planting season as usual. The news was heartbreaking, especially for her son, who is deeply saddened to lose his mother forever.
Recently, the Poh Teck Tung Foundation, upon learning that Nong Oom was a former rescue volunteer, contacted the Sawang Janya Tham Buriram Rescue Unit to offer financial assistance of 20,000 baht.
