A shocking incident in Udon Thani province: the body of a 35-year-old man was found brutally murdered with his throat slit and genitals severed inside a rice field hut. Police and rescue teams are urgently searching for the missing "head".
On 17 July 2016 at 20:10, Lieutenant Ekaphop Anaksappaisan, the daily duty investigator at Ban Dung Police Station in Ban Dung District, Udon Thani province, was on duty when he received a report of a murder at the Suk Sabai rice field hut in Phon Sung Subdistrict, Ban Dung District. Police were requested to investigate the crime scene.
After receiving the report, the duty investigator, along with rescue workers from the Srisuttho Ban Dung Rescue Association, VR Rescue, and highway police, went to the scene. They found the deceased, later identified as Mr. Somsak Tamwapi, or Tong, aged 35, who had been assaulted with his head severed from his body, Achilles tendons cut, and genitals removed. He was found alone dead inside the rice field hut. Villagers and rescue workers searched the nearby swamp for the missing head but have yet to find it.
According to Mr. Thanathat Munsamer, the village headman of Ban Fang, Village No. 9, who was among the first to arrive at the scene, the deceased had aggressive behavior, was addicted to drugs, engaged in petty theft, and would sleep at villagers' homes without running away. When asked to leave by the homeowners, he showed displeasure and insulted the villagers, causing resentment. His relatives showed no concern.
At this stage, the motive and cause of the murder remain unknown. Police, rescue workers, and villagers continue to intensively search for the victim’s head to find clues to solve the case. Further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
