After polling stations closed at 5:00 p.m., many began counting votes immediately. Early tallies in several areas showed Candidate Number 1 leading, with supporters and citizens closely following the results.
Chatchawan Benjasiriwong, Governor of Roi Et Province, together with Sarawong Boonmee, Secretary-General of the Election Commission (EC), Nantawit Naksang, Deputy Governor of Roi Et, and their teams, visited polling station 26 at the Sala Wat Pa Sri Phaiwan, Ban Thai Udom, Nuea Mueang Subdistrict, Mueang Roi Et District to closely observe the vote counting process.
Sarawong stated that despite heavy rain in the afternoon and a downpour 15 minutes before polls closed, Roi Et citizens continued arriving to vote until the last minute, keeping the election lively. The EC set a voter turnout target of 65 percent and confirmed there were no reports of election law violations. He expressed confidence that the vote counting system would provide quick results.
Governor Chatchawan said the overall election in Roi Et province proceeded smoothly, with all sectors fully performing their duties. He expects unofficial vote counts to be available gradually between 8:00 and 9:00 p.m. He also thanked officials and citizens for jointly ensuring a peaceful and transparent election.
Roi Et has a total of 2,539 polling stations. The EC requires all stations to use a checklist to prevent errors in operations. They also allow public observers to monitor vote counting within three meters to clearly see ballots and hear vote calls, building confidence in the election’s integrity, fairness, and transparency.
