A pickup truck fully loaded with durians lost control on a curve and fell from the M6 Motorway about 5 meters high in Nakhon Ratchasima, injuring three family members. It is suspected the vehicle was overloaded, causing loss of control while turning.
At 18:15 on 3 August 2026, volunteers from Huk 31 Rescue Unit in Nakhon Ratchasima were alerted to an accident involving a pickup truck that lost control and fell from an interchange curve on the M6 Motorway, the Bang Pa-in–Nakhon Ratchasima route. The incident occurred near the exit connecting to the bypass road around kilometer marker 196, Nai Mueang Subdistrict, Mueang District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province. Rescue personnel promptly responded with support staff.
At the scene, a black Toyota pickup truck registered in Phitsanulok was found with a metal frame covered by netting, rope, and plastic tarpaulin, fully loaded with durians. The vehicle had lost control and fallen about 4-5 meters from the interchange curve onto the service road alongside the motorway, crashing into a roadside power pole. The truck was severely damaged, with the metal frame detached from the bed, causing durians to spill and scatter across the road surface.
Rescue workers rushed to assist those trapped inside the vehicle. The driver was identified as Mr. Amnat Chaives, 53, from Wang Sai Phun District, Phichit Province. He sustained severe injuries from the fall and was immobile, prompting immediate transport to Maharaj Nakhon Ratchasima Hospital. Authorities also managed traffic and restricted access to unrelated persons at the scene to prevent secondary accidents and ensure safety of life and property.
Mrs. Kanokwan, 44, the wife of Mr. Amnat, recounted that the three of them—a father, mother, and their 13-year-old son—were traveling together. They had loaded durians from the central region to deliver to customers in Mueang District, Nakhon Ratchasima. While descending the interchange bridge and entering the curve, the vehicle suddenly tilted and flipped, crashing onto the road below. Fortunately, she and their son only suffered minor injuries.
Preliminary police investigations suggest the accident may have been caused by overloading the vehicle beyond its capacity, which reduced its control and performance, especially affecting directional handling in emergency situations or when navigating curves.
