A 63-year-old senior judge ended his life in the storage shed of his home in Maha Sarakham. His wife heard a gunshot in the early morning. She revealed that her husband had chronic illnesses and was stressed from work.
At 7:00 a.m. on 10 August, Police Lieutenant Colonel Mitthisan Norachan, the investigating officer at Phayakkhaphum Phisai Police Station in Maha Sarakham, received a report of a death at a residence in the Phayakkhaphum Phisai municipality. He then coordinated with the duty doctor at Phayakkhaphum Phisai Hospital, forensic officers, and rescue personnel to inspect the scene.
At the scene, the body of the 63-year-old senior judge was found lying dead inside a storage shed next to the garage. There was a gunshot wound on the right temple that penetrated through to the left temple. Authorities found a 9mm automatic pistol with four rounds remaining in the magazine, taped to the base of a fan. The weapon was collected as evidence.
Family members initially reported that the deceased had chronic health conditions, was experiencing work-related stress, and had shown signs of depression and social withdrawal for about one month.
Deputy Superintendent Chon Yingmaenwat of Phayakkhaphum Phisai Police Station said the deceased had separated himself to sleep alone in the rear house the previous night, while his wife stayed in the front house. At approximately 5:30 a.m., the wife heard what sounded like a gunshot. Upon checking, she found her husband dead in the storage shed.
Police initially examined the scene and reviewed CCTV footage, following forensic procedures. Relatives did not dispute the cause of death. Authorities will conduct an autopsy and then release the body to the family for religious funeral rites.
