A heartbreaking discovery was made of a 66-year-old man known as a "life fighter," who worked as a hired dump truck driver and was found dead inside his truck. Relatives sorrowfully revealed that the deceased had chronic illnesses but rarely sought medical care because he was busy earning money to support his family.
At 08:00 on 18 Aug 2026, Police Lieutenant Colonel Udomsak Salajan, the investigating officer at Suwannaphum Police Station in Roi Et province, received a report that a laborer driving a dump truck was found dead inside his vehicle along the Suwannaphum-Ban Don Yang road, Village No. 13, Sra Khu Subdistrict, Suwannaphum District. Upon receiving the report, he promptly went to the scene with the duty doctor from Suwannaphum Hospital and the Suwannaphum rescue team.
Upon arrival at the scene, the body of Mr. Rob Jarut, 66, a resident of Paisan Subdistrict, Prakhon Chai District, Buriram province, was found lying dead inside a white Mitsubishi dump truck. The body was face down on a makeshift mattress inside the truck’s cabin. No wounds or signs of assault were found on the body.
Initial investigation revealed that Mr. Som Khayandee, 63, a relative of the deceased, said the deceased had been hired to drive a dump truck for a local employer, traveling to various locations as hired to earn money to send home to his family. Before the incident, six dump trucks were parked together. Around 21:00, he spoke with the deceased, but the next morning, when he went to wake him to refuel the truck, he found him dead.
The deceased had chronic illnesses—diabetes and gout—but rarely visited a doctor due to continuous work as a hired laborer. He frequently bought 2-3 packs of painkillers daily for self-medication, and it is suspected that overdosing led to acute heart failure causing death. The relatives accepted the cause of death and handed the body over for traditional funeral rites.
