Police have issued a second summons to “Aunt Da” on trespassing charges; if she fails to comply within 15 days, an arrest warrant will be issued. The case also clarifies the police's appointment of the abbot of Wat Pa Adulyaram monastery.
On 28 Aug 2026, Pol. Col. Yosawat Kaewsuebtananit, chief of Khon Kaen City Police Station, provided an update on the summons issued to Ms. Chommanee “Da” Noijan, 62, for trespassing after she blocked the entrance to Wat Pa Adulyaram on 10 Aug 2026. After the first summons was issued requiring her to meet investigators on 27 Aug 2026 to acknowledge the charges, she neither appeared nor contacted the police within 24 hours.
Today, investigators issued a second summons to Aunt Da, maintaining the 15-day deadline for her to report to Khon Kaen City Police by 18 Sep 2026 to face charges of "joint trespassing." Authorities remind Aunt Da that evidence has been collected and legal steps followed. Should she ignore this second summons without notifying police of any reason, the next step will be to issue an arrest warrant under the same charge.
The Khon Kaen City Police chief added that issuing the summons to Aunt Da is part of the legal process. Additionally, about nine other men involved in the incident remain unidentified and have not been summoned due to lack of names or addresses—only their faces appear in video footage. Police urge all these men to report promptly, including one former soldier who has also not appeared. He emphasized that the police are committed to ensuring fairness for all involved.
Regarding Aunt Da’s recent press statement presenting key evidence challenging the legitimacy of the appointment and ecclesiastical title of Phra Ajarn Supat as Phra Kru Adulsanithat, abbot of Wat Pa Adulyaram,
Reporters visited Wat Trachuwanaram to meet Phra Kru Adulsilaporn, the current abbot and a witness to the events. He recounted the background of Phra Kru Adulsanithat, or Phra Ajarn Supat, before he became abbot of Wat Pa Adulyaram, a branch temple. He confirmed that Phra Ajarn Supat was the first and remains the only officially appointed abbot of that temple.
Phra Kru Adulsilaporn explained that he was previously acquainted with relatives of Phra Ajarn Supat, who at the time had not yet received the ecclesiastical title of Phra Kru Adulsanithat. The relatives lived nearby in Ban Nong Waeng. Through this connection, they frequently visited Phra Ajarn Supat, who was then abbot residing in Lom Sak District, Phetchabun Province. After several meetings and good rapport, the last time they met, Phra Mahanil was preparing to leave the monkhood and requested Phra Ajarn Supat to become head of Wat Pa Adulyaram due to his local ties.
Subsequently, after Phra Mahanil left the monkhood, Luang Por Ploy took over as head of the temple. The villagers then arranged transportation to bring Phra Ajarn Supat, following Phra Mahanil’s recommendation, because of his established relationships with the community. Phra Ajarn Supat has served as abbot of Wat Pa Adulyaram since then. The abbot’s official appointment occurred after the temple’s establishment announcement, which required submitting the abbot’s name alongside official documentation. Phra Ajarn Supat received his appointment concurrently with the temple’s official Buddhist recognition and remains the first and only properly appointed abbot of the branch temple to date.
Regarding the origin of the ecclesiastical title “Phra Kru Adulsanithat,” Phra Kru Adulsilaporn said that Phra Ajarn Supat had interactions with several senior monks who recommended and supported his title application. The district ecclesiastical chief approved the principle, while the provincial level processed the formal naming before forwarding it to central authorities. This multi-step procedure is standard. The temple was originally built by the late Luang Pu Phra Kru Adulsanithat Buddhakantasaro, former abbot of Wat Trachuwanaram. After his passing, it was decided to bestow the title “Phra Kru Adulsanithat” on Phra Ajarn Supat as a memorial, which explains the origin of the title.
Additional reporting shows that there have been seven previous heads or abbots of Wat Pa Adulyaram, as follows:
1. Luang Por Tao (no known title) from 1949 to 1962.
2. Luang Por Mun (no known title) from 1962 to 1964.
3. Luang Por Saeng (no known title) from 1964 to 1975.
4. Luang Pu On Chakrathammo from 1975 to 1985.
5. Luang Por Sim Phurito from 1985 to 1987.
6. Phra Mahanil Thantaro from 1987 to 1990.
7. Luang Por Ploy Panyatharo from 1990 to 1991.
These seven monks served as heads of the temple.
8. Phra Kru Adulsanithat has served from 1991 to the present, holding the distinction of being the first and only officially appointed abbot of Wat Pa Adulyaram.
