A lawyer for Wat Pa Adulyaram Model submitted a legal proposal and Supreme Court precedents to the Director-General of the Land Department and the Khon Kaen Land Office, requesting that land ownership be transferred under the temple's name without requiring heirs to register the transfer. The land officer revealed that under Section 84 procedures, the matter has been sent to the Land Department and facts are being gathered to present to the Governor of the province.
At 10:00 a.m. on 31 Aug 2026 GMT+7, at the Khon Kaen Land Office in the Khon Kaen Municipality area, Mr. Kowit Saengsakol, known as 'Lawyer Boy,' legal counsel for Wat Pa Adulyaram, submitted a legal opinion letter regarding the transfer of land ownership of Wat Pa Adulyaram. The letter was addressed to the Director-General of the Land Department and the Khon Kaen Land Office.
Mr. Kowit revealed that the letter was prepared by the Attorney Foundation for the Dhamma Army and contains legal proposals and opinions about transferring land ownership for Wat Pa Adulyaram. It includes related Supreme Court rulings concerning temple land and supporting documents totaling over 100 pages. This legal opinion was prepared in response to ongoing issues.
This followed a meeting about the temple's case at the provincial hall about a week earlier. The Attorney Foundation for the Dhamma Army decided to prepare a legal proposal for the Khon Kaen Land Office officials to use in their review. Two copies were submitted: one addressed to the Director-General of the Land Department and the other to the Khon Kaen Land Office. The key point of the 'Wat Pa Adulyaram Model' approach is the foundation’s legal opinion that land ownership can be transferred to the temple without requiring heirs to register the transfer, citing laws and Supreme Court rulings that land donated for temple construction fully belongs to the temple.
Mr. Kowit emphasized that submitting the legal opinion was not intended to pressure officials but to provide information to assist their review, as different parties may have varying legal views. The next steps are up to the officials, which may take time. The lawyers will neither pressure nor expedite the process but will allow officials to consider the matter according to applicable laws and regulations. Since the case draws public attention, officials acting as intermediaries must exercise caution in their review.
Regarding “Uncle Waen,” who announced his resignation as an advisor and confirmed he would not come to apologize, when asked if lawyer Ananchai had contacted them, Mr. Kowit said that it was necessary to ask lawyer Ananchai about the next steps. They might wait the full seven days or proceed immediately, pending a decision. The legal team is ready to file a complaint if needed.
Mr. Pongsuwat Chai Tonchueak, Khon Kaen Land Officer and recipient of the letter, disclosed updates on the case involving Phra Kru Adulsaranithet and Wat Pa Adulyaram. He said the Land Office is not idle and is following Section 84 procedures. The matter was previously sent to the district office and feedback received. It has now been forwarded to the Land Department and they are awaiting documents from that department. Once all facts are gathered, the case will be presented to the provincial governor following official steps. It is expected to be completed soon.
