Authorities, accompanied by K9 dogs, have launched a search for a 41-year-old woman missing in the Tam forest of Roi Et. She had borrowed a neighbor’s motorcycle to buy offerings for monks and then vanished. Her motorcycle and sandals were later found in the forest amid challenging rainy conditions.
Reporters said Ms. Nook, 41, from the Kum Nong Bon community, Village No. 1, Sarakhu Subdistrict, Suwannaphum District, Roi Et Province, borrowed a relative’s motorcycle to buy goods at Suwannaphum fresh market to make offerings to monks early on 5 Sep 2026. She disappeared afterward. Around 10 a.m. that day, locals collecting mushrooms found the black Honda Wave motorcycle Ms. Nook had borrowed overturned and stuck in mud in the Tam forest near the Siow River basin, about 2 kilometers from her home. One of her foam slippers was found at the scene. Relatives reported her missing to Suwannaphum Police Station and requested help from the district’s missing persons search team.
Since yesterday, rescue teams—including the Roi Et Disaster Response Team, Suwannaphum Rescue Unit, Udomwet Rescue of Phanom Phrai District, Jaopu Kudpeng Rescue of Phon Thong District, Katanyu Nakae Rescue of Nakhon Phanom Province, Metta Tham Rescue Station of Janghan District, Silanakhon Rescue of Selaphum District, ASEAN Rescue Unit, Independent Underwater Search Team from Kham Khuean Kaeo District in Yasothon Province, and the Roi Et Highway Police Rescue Unit—have joined forces to search for Ms. Nook. However, heavy intermittent rain forced a suspension of the search at 3 a.m. today (6 Sep 2026).
This afternoon, search teams intensified efforts on the ground with officers and K9 dogs, while drones equipped with thermal sensors conducted aerial scans. Water searches employed scooters and K9 units again. Despite these efforts, Ms. Nook remains missing. The area’s wide forest with many streams and creeks, combined with periodic rain, continues to challenge search operations.
