The search mission ended for a 35-year-old man after he went up Phu Faek in Kalasin Province to gather forest products with two friends, totaling three people, before disappearing since yesterday evening. His body was found at "Kaeng Ee Toy," a whirlpool in a deep pit, suspected to have been swept away by flash flood water.
On 10 September 2026, a local man from Nam Pun village, Phu Laen Chang Subdistrict, Nakhu District, Kalasin Province, went missing while gathering forest products on Phu Faek. Relatives and friends who accompanied him contacted the Muen Hin Rescue Unit, Metta Tham Headquarters Rescue Unit, and several other agencies to coordinate a search amid mountainous terrain and hazardous spots. The missing man was found dead this morning, identified as Anan Ruangnuch, 35, from Nakhu District, Kalasin Province.
At around 3:00 p.m. on 9 September 2026, Anan, the deceased, went up the mountain to gather forest products with a total of three friends. Anan then went missing, and his friends could not reach him, prompting them to notify relatives and request assistance from authorities.
At about 7:45 p.m., rescue teams, police, forestry officers, border patrol police, and local villagers mobilized to search along the paths and areas where Anan was likely to have passed. The search was challenging due to mountainous terrain and the presence of creeks and several water pits, requiring the teams to exercise caution entering the area.
At approximately 8:00 a.m. on 10 September 2026, authorities and search participants found Anan’s body at "Kaeng Ee Toy," a name locals use for a whirlpool in the Phu Faek area. Initial information suggests he may have slipped and been swept by flash flood water into the deep whirlpool pit, unable to escape. Further examination and an autopsy will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.
After finding the body, all involved authorities coordinated a plan to extract the deceased from the scene. Due to the mountainous terrain, moving the body was difficult and had to prioritize the safety of the rescue workers. The operation to bring the body down was completed by about 10:10 a.m., when it reached the foot of the mountain.
