Ubon Ratchathani Zoo welcomes new members "Siang Khaen" and "Kham Kaen," two young male African lions from Khon Kaen Zoo, along with a female giraffe named "Lily" from Hua Hin Safari, and is providing care to help them adapt to their new environment.
On 18 September 2026, reporters learned that Mr. Thanop Siripiyanak, director of Ubon Ratchathani Zoo, invited the public to meet the new members: two male African lions and one female giraffe. Their arrival adds vibrancy and diversity to wildlife education and conservation efforts within the zoo.
The new members include two 2-year-old male African lions, Siang Khaen and Kham Kaen, who were transferred from Khon Kaen Zoo on 13 July 2026. They are currently under close care by veterinarians and animal caretakers to ensure they adjust properly to their new habitat and surroundings.
The other new member is Lily, a 2-year-7-month-old female giraffe, who arrived from Hua Hin Safari on 15 May 2026. Staff have been continuously monitoring her adaptation, nutrition, and health to ensure she remains strong and can comfortably live in her new environment.
The introduction of these new members not only impresses visitors and serves as an attraction but also provides a valuable opportunity to promote learning about the behavior, biology, and lifestyles of wild animals, as well as to raise public and youth awareness about the importance of wildlife conservation.
Ubon Ratchathani Zoo invites tourists and the general public to come and enjoy the charm of the African lions Siang Khaen and Kham Kaen, as well as the giraffe Lily, while gaining closer insights into wildlife at the zoo.
