On 21 September 2026, reports emerged about a shocking case where relatives announced a search for Ms. Duangporn, or Nong Jeans, 35, from Phimai District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province, who had gone missing with no contact. Initially, she had worked in South Korea for over 10 years, then returned to Thailand for about a year and told relatives she had a Korean boyfriend who would help her get a visa to return to Korea.
In August, Ms. Duangporn returned to Korea again and kept in touch with relatives throughout. However, from September onward, relatives in Thailand were unable to contact her, causing great concern and prompting them to announce a search.
It was later revealed on social media that Ms. Duangporn was strangled to death by her Taiwanese boyfriend, who lost control after a breakup, then hid her body for six days before it was discovered.
On the afternoon of 20 September, reporters visited the office of the village headman of Sama Kha Village, Moo 2, Nai Mueang Subdistrict, Phimai District, Nakhon Ratchasima. They met Mrs. Prapawarin Siriart, the village head, to inquire about the death of Ms. Duangporn, or Jeans, 35, from Nai Mueang Subdistrict, Phimai, who was strangled by her Taiwanese boyfriend and whose body was concealed in a suitcase for over six days in Taiwan after relatives posted a search on social media, only to learn she had become a homicide victim abroad.
Mrs. Prapawarin said that Ms. Duangporn, or Jeans, was originally from the village but did not live there. She had worked and lived elsewhere and was known to have a foreign boyfriend. Her mother passed away many years ago, and information about her father was unknown. Recently, relatives had posted missing person notices.
On the morning of 19 September, she was contacted by Mr. Saiwai Kittithirakul, Chief Executive of Nai Mueang Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Phimai, who relayed information from consular officials confirming Ms. Duangporn's body had been found murdered in Taiwan, matching the missing person reports. She immediately informed the relatives of this tragic news.
Ms. Yanisa, 49, a cousin of the deceased, said that Jeans was an only child. Her mother died when Jeans was a child, and her father was unknown, having left before she was born. Jeans lived with her grandmother, who has since passed away. After finishing high school, Jeans worked in Bangkok.
She later worked in South Korea, where she had a boyfriend and lived for about 10 years before returning to Thailand about a year ago. She rented a condominium in Bangkok, though the cousin was unaware of its location. Jeans regularly contacted her cousin by phone.
The cousin last spoke with Jeans on 2 September 2026, when Jeans said she planned to visit her boyfriend in Korea. After that, the cousin lost contact; messages went unread, and there was no activity on Jeans’s Facebook, despite her usual habit of posting daily life updates. A friend in Korea also asked another cousin whether Jeans had returned to Thailand, as she was unreachable.
Upon learning this, the cousin posted search notices through various channels until learning that Jeans had been murdered in Taiwan. The family does not know the cause or details. They have authorized the Thai agency responsible for protecting citizens abroad to handle the case and the body.
