Update: A speedboat collided with a local fishing boat in the middle of the Andaman Sea. Officials have assisted tourists, with a total of 22 injured, and one death confirmed.


The accident involved a speedboat from a company colliding with a local fishing boat near Koh Khiao, located between Phuket Province and Phi Phi Island in Krabi Province, at 09:10 today.

As of 11:07, reports confirm a total of 22 injured from the speedboat-fishing boat collision: 3 Thai crew members and 19 foreign tourists. One confirmed fatality is Miss Starykh Elizaveta, an 18-year-old Russian tourist. The remaining injured received initial first aid; Phi Phi Hospital and Phuket Provincial Administrative Organization facilitated transferring some of the injured by boat for further treatment in Phuket.
