Narathiwat Province Imposes Curfew from 9 PM to 5 AM, Bans Leaving Residences

The Commander of the Narathiwat Task Force announced a curfew banning people from leaving their residences between 9 PM and 5 AM throughout the province, except in urgent cases requiring permission from authorities.

On 11 January 2026, Major General Yodawut Phuengpak, Commander of the Narathiwat Task Force, issued a proclamation regarding measures in the special control zone and restrictions on people outside their homes during specified hours. Exercising authority under the Martial Law Act of 1914, he announced Order 29/2569 to enhance security measures in Narathiwat Province, prohibiting people from leaving their residences from 9 PM to 5 AM and tightening controls at the Thai-Malaysia border following recent violence and unrest in several areas.

The announcement cited ongoing violent incidents including bombings and unrest across Narathiwat Province, necessitating deployment of military, police, and civilian forces to maintain order and ensure the safety of people’s lives, bodies, property, and public peace within the area.

Key measures include stricter controls at border crossing points along the Thai-Malaysia border, thorough inspection of all types of vehicles, monitoring of public travel, and regulation of all trade activities by both Thai nationals and foreigners.

Additionally, the curfew banning people from leaving their residences between 9 PM and 5 AM applies throughout Narathiwat Province. Exceptions are allowed only for urgent reasons and must be approved by military, police, village headmen, or local administrative officials. Meanwhile, military personnel have been authorized to conduct operational duties, searches, and security enforcement as permitted by law, with cooperation requested from civilian officials and the public to facilitate these efforts.

This proclamation takes effect from 11 January 2026 onward until further notice. Major General Yodawut Phuengpak, Commander of the Narathiwat Task Force, signed this announcement.
