Female DJ Alarmed as Mysterious Man Attempts to Use Key Card to Enter Hotel Room Late at Night in Phuket

A female DJ became alarmed and shared a video on social media after encountering a mysterious man who tried to use a key card to enter her hotel room late at night in Phuket. She reported the matter to the hotel for investigation but received an unsatisfactory response before filing a police report.

On 18 Jan 2026 GMT+7, the Facebook page “Jae Moi v+” posted an account of a woman's experience staying at a hotel in Phuket, describing a near-nightmare in this tourist city. The post warned women to be cautious, as hotel security was reportedly zero and no one took responsibility, accompanied by a video of the incident.

The post further explained that the woman stayed at a hotel in Phuket with friends. After checking in, her friends went out to explore, but she stayed behind because she was feeling unwell. While lying down, she heard a doorbell and sounds like someone trying to open the door. She quickly looked through the peephole and saw a man outside. She then locked the door and returned to bed.

Shortly after, the doorbell rang again. She quickly got up, took her phone to record a video, and confirmed someone was trying to open the door using a key card—though it was unclear where the card came from. Fortunately, the door chain was on, preventing entry. She reported this to hotel staff, but they claimed that after reviewing the CCTV footage, no one was seen in the area.

This response infuriated the woman because the video clearly showed someone pushing on the door. She said the hotel ultimately denied responsibility and later claimed the CCTV cameras were malfunctioning during that time.

After the story was widely shared, it sparked much criticism. Many questioned that aside from guests, only hotel staff would have key cards. Each floor reportedly has one master key card that can open all rooms, usually held by housekeeping or room service staff, who would typically knock before entering.

The victim filed a police report at Cherng Talay Police Station and posted on her Facebook that the incident was ultimately caused by hotel personnel, as the hotel informed her that a master key card had been issued. The hotel is currently investigating. She thanked everyone for their concern and subsequently moved to another hotel.

Initially, reporters contacted the hotel where the incident occurred and learned that staff from the front desk and other relevant departments were being summoned for questioning on 18 Jan. The hotel could not provide any information because the manager was absent. They plan to inform the customer and arrange a discussion once facts are established.

If there are any updates or official statements from the hotel, further reports will be provided.
