Yala Erupts: Militants Bomb and Clash with Election Security Troops in Bannang Sata

Yala erupts as militants plant a bomb and engage in a gunfight with election security troops in Bannang Sata, injuring one soldier.


On 8 February 2026, reports indicated thatthe Yala Radio Station page of the Public Relations Departmentposted that on 8 February 2025 at approximately 16:35 GMT+7, militants planted a bomb and exchanged gunfire with military personnel from the patrol unit securing election routes, the Rapid Mobile Operation Unit (REVA), Company 1, 1st Infantry Battalion. The incident occurred near the Ban Wang Hin bridge, Village No. 8, Ban Tue Ra, Bannang Sata Subdistrict, Bannang Sata District, Yala Province.

As a result, one soldier was injured—Private Worawut. Officials promptly transported the wounded to Bannang Sata Hospital for urgent medical treatment.

After the incident, security forces took control of the area, awaiting related authorities to conduct a detailed investigation. They increased security measures around the vicinity and are collecting evidence to pursue and prosecute the perpetrators according to the law.
