The Ministry of Public Health summarized the injured from the shooting at Phatong School in Songkhla: two females—a student and the principal—were seriously shot and have undergone surgery, while another child fell from a height and suffered an ankle injury.

On 11 Feb 2026, reporters reported that a suspect armed with a firearm stormed Phatong Prathan Khiriwat School in Phatong subdistrict, Hat Yai district, Songkhla, taking an unknown number of students and teachers hostage. Authorities have since detained the suspect, a man approximately 18-19 years old, believed to be upset because he could not find a certain teacher who had disciplined his younger sister.

Regarding this matter, the Ministry of Public Health has summarized the casualties as follows.

  • At Hat Yai Hospital, one female patient was shot in the chest and torso, has undergone surgery, and is under close observation in the ICU.
  • At Songklanagarind Hospital, PSU, two females: a 14-year-old girl shot in the abdomen, currently undergoing surgery; another fell from a height, suffering an ankle injury and is under examination and treatment.

It has been reported that the woman being treated at Hat Yai Hospital is the school principal.
