Shooting Incident at Phatong School: Student and Director Critically Injured

The Ministry of Public Health summarized the injured from the shooting at Phatong School in Songkhla: a female student and the director were critically shot and have undergone surgery, while another child fell from a height and injured an ankle.

On 11 Feb 2026 GMT+7, reporters reported that a gunman stormed Phatong Prathan Kirivat School in Phatong Subdistrict, Hat Yai District, Songkhla Province, taking an unknown number of students and teachers hostage. Authorities have now apprehended the suspect, a male about 18-19 years old, who is believed to be upset after failing to find a teacher who had disciplined his younger sister.

Regarding this matter, the Ministry of Public Health summarized the injuries from the incident as follows.

  • Hat Yai Hospital has one female patient who was shot in the chest and torso; she has undergone surgery and is being closely monitored in the ICU.
  • Songklanagarind Hospital, Prince of Songkla University, is treating two females: a 14-year-old shot in the abdomen currently undergoing surgery, and another who fell from a height, injuring her ankle and receiving treatment.

It has been reported that the woman receiving treatment at Hat Yai Hospital is the school director.
