The dried remains of an infant were found in front of a rental house in Songkhla Province, estimated to have died about two weeks earlier. The tenant was surprised, unaware that a child had died outside her home.
On 22 February 2026, Police Colonel Apichat Wann, Chief of Kho Hong Police Station, received a report from local residents about the discovery of an infant's remains, approximately 1-2 months old, in the parking area in front of a vacant rental house in Village No. 6, Thung Yai, Kho Hong Subdistrict, Songkhla Province. Upon receiving the report, he ordered the Kho Hong police investigation team to coordinate with the Songkhla Provincial Forensic Science Division and the duty doctor from Songklanagarind Hospital to inspect the scene.
At the scene in the parking area in front of the vacant rental house, the remains of an infant of unknown sex, estimated to be 1-2 months old, were found dressed in a white romper and wearing a diaper. The body was dried and believed to have died about two weeks prior. The tenant, who lives alone, was identified as Mrs. Wongkhae, aged 75.
When interviewed, Mrs. Wongkhae, the tenant, said she had just learned about the infant's body from an electrical worker from the Electricity Authority, who then informed the local village headman. The headman came to the scene and told her there was a dead infant outside the house. She did not know whose child it was and had not noticed the body before. When she went out, she usually backed her car out and drove away, and upon returning, she would turn to enter the house, so she did not pay close attention and did not see the infant's body lying there.
Meanwhile, the Kho Hong police investigation team is reviewing past CCTV footage to identify suspects who might have abandoned the infant's body. After completing the questioning, the investigators assigned rescue personnel to transport the infant's remains to Songklanagarind Hospital for a detailed autopsy before proceeding with legal actions.
