On 25 Feb 2026 at 11:50, Police Lieutenant Colonel Panyawat Nuchusuk, Investigating Officer of Mueang Satun Police Station, Satun Province, received a report of a car crash into an electric pole along Wisetmayura Road (Satun–Jeabling route) in Moo 2, Khuan Khan Subdistrict, Mueang District, Satun. He, together with rescue volunteers from Thammarangsee and Rom Sai Foundations, rushed to the scene.
They found a white Honda car registered in Satun crashed heavily into a roadside electric pole, with severe damage to nearly the entire vehicle. The driver was critically injured and trapped inside. Rescue teams used cutting equipment to free him and rushed him to Satun Hospital, where he later died.
The victim was identified as Dr. Harun Poonsin, 67, a resident of Ko Saharai Subdistrict, Mueang Satun District. Investigation revealed that he had traveled from his home on Ko Saharai, took a boat to the pier at Jeabling Subdistrict, Mueang Satun, and then drove into town. His car lost control and struck the electric pole, resulting in his death.
Dr. Harun Poonsin had been recently elected as President of Ko Saharai Subdistrict Administrative Organization on 13 Jan 2026 and was scheduled to deliver his policy speech to begin his duties on 2 March 2026. Unfortunately, his life ended prematurely due to this accident.
