Frequent earthquakes occurred in Khao Phang Subdistrict, Ban Ta Khun District, Surat Thani Province, on 8 Mar 2026 GMT+7 near the Ratchaprapha Dam. Residents reported feeling the tremors.


At 13:00 on 8 Mar 2026 GMT+7, the Earthquake Surveillance Division of the Meteorological Department reported multiple earthquakes near Khao Phang Subdistrict, Ban Ta Khun District, Surat Thani Province as follows:

At 12:37, magnitude 1.8, depth 1 km.

At 12:29, magnitude 2.9, depth 1 km.

At 12:28, magnitude 1.9, depth 1 km.

At 07:02, magnitude 2.4, depth 2 km.

Reporters noted that between 10-11 Feb 2026 GMT+7, the Khao Phang Subdistrict area, encompassing the Ratchaprapha Dam, experienced 11 consecutive earthquakes ranging from magnitude 1.9 to 3.2 at depths of 1 to 3 meters. During these events, the Ratchaprapha Dam underwent a visual inspection following the earthquake emergency response plan and the Dam Safety Remote Monitoring System (DS-RMS). The inspection confirmed that the earthquakes had no impact on the dam's structural stability.
