A prefabricated house truck hit the edge of a footbridge in Phuket. Two workers sitting on the house died from head injuries and falling off the truck. The driver said he thought he cleared it.
At 09:50 on 11 March 2026, Police Lieutenant Chaiyarat Heedchan, Deputy Investigator at Tha Chat Chai Police Station in Phuket, was notified via the station's radio center of an incident involving a prefabricated house truck that grazed the edge of a footbridge in front of Hong Yok Bamrung School on Thepkrasattri Road, Mai Khao Subdistrict, Thalang District, Phuket. Two fatalities were reported. He informed Police Colonel Khundech Na Nongkhai, the station chief, and coordinated with relevant authorities to investigate.
At the scene, an 18-wheeler white Hino truck with Bangkok license plates was found carrying a prefabricated house. Two deceased persons were discovered: one lying motionless on the ceiling inside the prefabricated house with severe head wounds, and another lying face down on the road, having fallen from height, with serious injuries including to the head.
The truck driver, Mr. Sithisak Sritin, stated he drove the prefabricated house truck from Chonburi to deliver it to Phuket city. At the accident site, he believed the truck's height could clear the footbridge, but it struck the edge. This caused the head of a worker sitting on the house to hit the bridge edge violently, resulting in death. The deceased were Mr. Hine Kyaw, 34, Myanmar national, who struck his head on the bridge edge, and Mr. Than Taik Aung, 23, Myanmar national, who fell from the truck.
Officials initially coordinated with the on-call doctor from Vachira Phuket Hospital to perform autopsies and conducted a thorough investigation at the scene before proceeding with legal steps.
