All Day Wasted Waiting in Line to Refill Fuel in Krabi Residents from Lanta Reveal No Fuel Available on the Island

More than 300 vehicles have lined up to refuel at a station in Krabi since early dawn, with waits lasting until 3 p.m. Residents from Koh Lanta revealed that the entire island lacks fuel, forcing them to risk traveling to city pumps. They appeal to the government to urgently fix the problem.

On 24 Mar 2026 GMT+7, reporters covered the fuel situation at a service station in Krabi province. At the PTT Krabinoi station in Krabinoi Subdistrict, Mueang Krabi District, over 300 residents from the city and nearby districts waited to refuel, especially diesel, starting early morning. Refueling only began around 3 p.m., with the station organizing a queue system for residents. Some vehicles ran out of fuel while waiting, forcing owners to use jerrycans to buy fuel and refill their tanks, creating a chaotic scene. This situation has occurred at nearly every station in Krabi province, with some people queuing since dawn, causing many to lose work opportunities.

A private freight driver said he queued for fuel since early morning and ran out of fuel while waiting, having to buy fuel in a jerrycan at 900 baht. He revealed that deliveries are significantly delayed daily due to the long wait to refuel. Today, despite arriving early, he only got fuel at 3 p.m. and had not delivered any goods to customers yet. He said hoping to find fuel elsewhere is futile because all stations face the same problem. Fortunately, customers understand the situation. He urged the government to urgently address the issue as residents are severely affected.

A young woman from Koh Lanta, Krabi, along with friends, came to queue for fuel, stating that the island is facing a severe crisis with no fuel available for two days. Residents on the island are greatly distressed. She arrived at the city fuel station early and was assigned queue number over 200 but was still unsure if she would get fuel. She called on the government to urgently solve the fuel shortage. She said they do not mind higher prices but fear running out of fuel altogether.

A private construction contractor who relies on heavy machinery such as backhoes and cement trucks said their work has nearly stopped because they must wait in line to buy fuel for machinery. They cannot refuel backhoes directly at the station and must waste time waiting. Each purchase is limited to 100 liters, which is insufficient for operations. The contractor said they are currently facing very serious difficulties.
