
A retired civil servant touring Tiger Cave Temple Mountain in Krabi collapsed and lost consciousness after climbing 1,200 steps to the summit. Rescue workers performed CPR to save him but failed. His wife sorrowfully revealed that her husband had diabetes.
At 14:00 on 26 Mar 2026, Krabi Phithak Pracha rescue team along with Krabi Noi Municipality rescue workers received a distress call about a tourist who had fainted at the summit of Tiger Cave Vipassana Temple in Krabi Noi Subdistrict. Upon notification, the rescue team dispatched skilled volunteers to assist, who had to hike more than 1,200 steps to reach the victim at the mountain's highest point.
It took about an hour to reach the location, where they found the unconscious tourist identified as Mr. Seksan Srisuthanyawong, 68, from Hua Chang Subdistrict, Chaturaphak Phiman District, Roi Et Province. He was unresponsive with no detectable pulse. Rescuers performed CPR but could not revive him. He was pronounced dead at the summit. The team then carried his body down and coordinated with Lt. Charnwit Jamsai, deputy investigator at Muang Krabi Police Station, and an on-call doctor from Krabi Hospital for examination.
Preliminary interviews with Mrs. Supaporn Srisuthanyawong, 61, the deceased’s wife, revealed that she and her husband, both retired from government service, were traveling together since they had no children. They had climbed several mountains before and decided to climb Tiger Cave Temple Mountain in Krabi.
Before the incident, the husband showed no warning signs but did have diabetes. Upon reaching the summit, he mentioned feeling dizzy. Initially, she thought it was fatigue-related faintness, but he soon lost consciousness, necessitating a wait for rescue personnel.The rescue workersarrived too late to save him, and he ultimately passed away.
His wife expressed no suspicion regarding the cause of death. The police then released the body for religious funeral rites.
