Bangla, Patong Bustling on First Day of Songkran 2026 Water Festival

Bangla, Patong is lively as the Songkran 2026 water festival begins on its first day, with Thai and foreign tourists flocking to splash water amid the sweltering heat.


The Songkran festival atmosphere in Patong, Phuket Province, started vibrantly this afternoon (12 Apr 2026), especially around Bangla Alley, Patong Subdistrict, Kathu District, where crowds of Thai and foreign tourists gathered densely to cool off with water from the first day.

Tourists brought out water guns and joyfully sprayed water along the streets, while vendors began selling water play equipment and drinks, adding color and liveliness to the area.

Regarding safety, officers from various agencies—including police, tourism authorities, local administration, and related units—deployed forces to closely oversee order and assist tourists, covering the entire Patong area.

Meanwhile, Patong Beach also attracted many tourists engaging in relaxation activities, swimming, and enjoying Songkran water play, with some bringing water guns into the sea along the more than 3-kilometer-long shoreline.

This evening, Patong Municipality is preparing to hold an opening ceremony for the event. “Songkran Festival Patong 2026” The venue is Bangla Square near the Bangla Police Station at Patong Beach, featuring highlights such as traditional Ramwong dance, Thai country music, DJs, and water play activities. A large turnout of locals and tourists is expected, as in previous years.

On 13 Apr, Phuket City Municipality will hold Songkran activities at multiple locations, including Chalerm Phrakiat R.10 Park (Saphan Hin). The day starts with a morning almsgiving ceremony, followed by rituals of bathing the Buddha statue Phra Buddha Sihing and paying respects to elders. Additional events will be held near Limelight Shopping Mall, Dibuk Road, and Chalerm Phrakiat 72nd Anniversary Queen Park (Lan Mangkon) with the “Songkran No Alcohol Festival Phuket 2026” from 16:00 to 22:00.
