Five Indian Tourists Mysteriously Lose Consciousness at Phuket Café One Dies

Five Indian tourists visited a café in Phuket, after which four mysteriously lost consciousness and were taken to hospital. One has died, while another remains symptom-free. Authorities are working to determine the true cause.

A reporter stated that a tragic incident occurred in Phuket around 02:06 on 9 May 2026. Police Lieutenant Witayut Damphueak, deputy investigation officer at Kamala Police Station, Phuket, was informed of four foreign tourists found unconscious inside a popular café near Kamala Beach, Kathu District, Phuket. Emergency medical staff from Kamala Subdistrict Administrative Organization responded, transporting three to Patong Hospital and one to Thalang Hospital.

Upon notification, the investigator reported to Police Colonel Anurak Prinya Sathirakul, chief of Kamala Police Station, and proceeded to Patong Hospital. There, three Indian men were unconscious and unable to provide information. They then proceeded to Thalang Hospital, where another Indian patient was also found unconscious.

Security staff at the café reported that a group of five Indian tourists had been using the facility since approximately 23:00 on 8 May 2026.

Around 01:54, four tourists in the group gradually lost consciousness for unknown reasons. The café promptly called emergency responders who assisted and transported them to hospital. The fifth individual showed no abnormal symptoms.

Subsequently, Patong Hospital reported that two Indian patients were in a coma and transferred them to Vachira Phuket Hospital for further treatment. Later, at 14:30 the same day, investigators were informed by Vachira Phuket Hospital that one patient, Kushagra Agarwal, had died. The others remain in stable condition.

Authorities have informed the Indian embassy and are collaborating with forensic doctors to conduct a thorough autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
