Korat Zoo Celebrates 37 Years as Red Pig Fan Club Donates 100,000 Baht for Animal Welfare

Korat Zoo celebrated its 37th anniversary in a warm atmosphere, with the fan club bringing 100,000 baht to welcome “Nong Mu Daeng,” the dwarf hippopotamus, to support wildlife care and quality of life improvements. The zoo also hosted a grand “World Turtle Day” event.

On 24 May 2026 GMT+7, reports stated that Nakhon Ratchasima Zoo, known as Korat Zoo, held its 37th anniversary celebration to reinforce its reputation as a “happy home” long cherished by Korat residents and Thais. The event was vibrant and warm, attracting many tourists and families with children participating enthusiastically. The zoo prepared special activities to offer smiles, knowledge, and entertainment.

A key highlight of the event was celebrating the two-month milestone of “Nong Mu Daeng”, the newest beloved dwarf hippopotamus, with a large fan base, the “Red Pig” fan club, gathering in numbers to congratulate. The fan club also donated 100,000 baht to Nakhon Ratchasima Zoo to support animal welfare and improve wildlife living conditions.

Additionally, the zoo’s education department collaborated to organize activities for “World Turtle Day” (World Turtle Day) to broaden knowledge and instill conservation awareness among youth through natural habitat simulations and hands-on activities, such as making turtle-heart keychains from recycled egg cartons, crafting “This Head Has a Turtle” hats, coloring fans, and creating mini gardens in glasses. Children also enjoyed turtle bingo games with prizes, listened to educational stories, and had close encounters feeding turtles.

Regarding environmental initiatives, Korat Zoo participated in a workshop to create contemporary art as a medium to promote sustainable wildlife and environmental conservation. The event also received support from private sector partners who set up booths offering educational fun and distributed many prizes, greatly delighting the attending children.

Korat Zoo's management expressed gratitude to tourists, fans, and partner agencies for their continuous support and for being part of the zoo family over the past 37 years. They reaffirmed their commitment to developing the zoo as a leading conservation education center that brings happiness and smiles to the public without pause.
