
A tragic incident occurred at a school's morality training camp in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province where a student was electrocuted while showering in a temple bathroom. A 14-year-old boy died.
At 19:00 on 25 Jun 2026, Thung Yai Police Station in Nakhon Si Thammarat received a report from Somdej Phra Yuparaj Chawang Hospital in Chawang District about an electric shock accident involving students from a school attending a morality training camp at a temple in Thung Yai Subdistrict, Thung Yai District, Nakhon Si Thammarat. The police notified their superiors.
The investigating officer, detectives, and patrol officers from Thung Yai Police Station went to the scene and were informed by the camp supervisors that before the incident, students were allowed to shower at a bathroom under construction within the temple. An electrical leakage occurred, electrocuting two students while showering. The supervising teacher took the students to Somdej Phra Yuparaj Hospital in Chawang District. One 14-year-old student died, and a 13-year-old student was injured but is now in stable condition.
The investigating officer recorded the inspection, took photographs, and made a scene diagram. Further procedures will follow, including calling forensic police to examine the site to determine the exact cause of the electrocution accident.
Preliminary police inspection of the temple bathroom under construction found a bare broken wire draped over the metal frame of the bathroom roof, which is suspected to have caused the electrical leakage that electrocuted the student, resulting in death and injury.
