14-Year-Old Boy Dies from Electric Shock at Moral Training Camp Police Investigate for Possible Negligence

The chief of Thung Yai Police Station revealed progress in the case of a 14-year-old boy who died from electric shock. The incident occurred at a moral and ethical training camp. Authorities are gathering information and evidence to assess whether negligence applies, in order to press charges against those involved.

Regarding the recent tragic event at a moral training camp school in Nakhon Si Thammarat province, where a student was electrocuted while showering in a temple bathroom, resulting in the death of a 14-year-old boy, as previously reported (Tragic electric shock kills 14-year-old student during moral training camp in Nakhon Si Thammarat)

This morning (26 Jun 2026), reporters visited the school attended by 14-year-old Norathep Thaisuwan, nicknamed N’Brite, a Grade 8 student who died. The school remains closed as per scheduled activities, with entrances blocked.

School administrators are actively coordinating assistance and support for the injured and the family of the deceased, working alongside the temple where the incident occurred. All students who attended the camp have been sent home since last night, including eight with minor injuries and one who remains hospitalized at Somdej Phrayupharat Chawang Hospital, expected to be discharged today.

Police Colonel Pongsaphichan Chayanonpiriya, chief of Thung Yai Police Station, stated that investigators are collecting all information and interviewing the supervising teacher, temple personnel, and those responsible for installing the electrical wiring. Coordination with forensic experts and the electricity authority is ongoing to establish facts and determine if negligence occurred. If so, charges of negligent homicide will be filed against the responsible parties.

The police chief added that investigators found a point where an electrical wire contacted a metal frame, believed to be the source of the electric leakage. The victims were wet at the time, which likely accelerated the electric current flow. Whether the students were playing with water will be determined after questioning the children following proper procedures. Experts will be involved to clarify the technical details of the electrical current.

Meanwhile, teachers and related personnel have coordinated with Samrong Temple in Thung Song district, Nakhon Si Thammarat, to prepare a venue for N’Brite’s funeral rites after the autopsy is completed. The body is expected to be transferred from Maharaj Nakhon Si Thammarat Hospital in the afternoon of the same day.
