3-Year-Old Girl Trapped Inside Washing Machine Drum for Over 2 Hours, Unconscious

A critical moment unfolded as a 3-year-old girl climbed into the drum of a washing machine to play hide-and-seek, becoming trapped for over two hours until she lost consciousness. Rescue workers and medical staff urgently used cutting tools to free her, ensuring her safety.

On 28 Jun 2026 GMT+7, an alarming incident occurred in Kuraburi District, Phang Nga Province, when a 3-year-old girl crawled inside the drum of a washing machine while playing hide-and-seek. She became trapped inside for more than two hours, eventually showing signs of exhaustion and losing consciousness. Rescue workers and medical teams raced against time, using cutting tools to assist and safely remove the child.

The incident took place inside a residence in Kura Subdistrict, Kuraburi District, Phang Nga. Rescue personnel from the Ranong Assistance Foundation in Kuraburi received a call for help reporting a child trapped inside a washing machine drum. Upon arrival, they found the 3-year-old girl inside the drum, visibly exhausted, who soon lost consciousness. The team promptly provided emergency aid.

According to the child’s grandmother, the girl had been playing as children do and crawled into the washing machine drum to sit inside. She was unable to climb out and was believed to have been trapped for over two hours until signs of distress appeared, prompting the grandmother to urgently call rescue services.

When the child became unresponsive and showed no reaction, rescue workers decided to remove the entire washing machine drum assembly while keeping the child inside it, to expedite transport to Kuraburi Chaipat Hospital for immediate medical assistance.

Upon arrival at the hospital, doctors and nurses administered oxygen and closely monitored her condition. Meanwhile, rescue workers carefully used high-precision cutting tools to dismantle the plastic frame of the drum piece by piece, taking great care to avoid further injury. After continuous effort, they successfully freed the girl, much to the relief of her family and the rescue team. Doctors confirmed she is safe and remains under close medical supervision.

This incident serves as an important cautionary reminder for guardians to closely supervise their children, particularly regarding play near household appliances such as washing machines, refrigerators, or enclosed spaces that may pose serious dangers if children become trapped inside.
