Man from Canada Steals Krabi Hospital Emergency Van, Flees Around Town Before Being Caught via GPS Tracking

Late at night, a Canadian man stole an emergency van from Krabi Hospital, which had its keys left in the ignition, and drove throughout the city. Officials and local residents joined forces to intercept him. The suspect was found agitated and disoriented and was taken into custody for questioning.

At 2:00 a.m. on 8 July 2026, patrol officers at Mueang Krabi Police Station received a report from Krabi Hospital staff that a foreign man, approximately 40 years old, had stolen a hospital van and driven it away from the premises. Police and hospital personnel then searched for the vehicle and, upon checking GPS, found it moving near Napacharat Road in Krabi municipality. Officers followed and found the van abandoned in an alley, with the driver's door dented, apparently from the suspect kicking it.

Later, the foreign suspect was spotted fleeing toward a hotel in a nearby alley. Police pursued and apprehended him, noting that he was loud and agitated and appeared disoriented. Initial identification confirmed he was a Canadian man around 40 years old.

While waiting to be picked up by the patrol car, the suspect attempted to escape again. Local residents and officers had to chase and restrain him amidst a commotion on the street before the patrol car arrived to take him to Mueang Krabi Police Station for legal proceedings.

Hospital staff reported uncertainty about why the man entered the hospital, but emergency department personnel confirmed the emergency van was stolen by the suspect. The keys were left in the vehicle to keep it ready for emergency patient transport at all times. Following GPS tracking, authorities located the vehicle and apprehended the suspect.
