The Crime Suppression Division raided four target locations in Satun Province, arresting brokers who solicited bribes in the 2022 police sergeant exam. The investigation is set to expand to explore connections to local government exam corruption cases.
On 11 Aug 2026 CE at 06:30, under the direction of Police Major General Patthanasak Bupphasuwan, Commander of the Crime Suppression Division, and Police Colonel Anusorn Thongthai, Commander of Division 6, Police Lieutenant Colonel Patipan Sukthin and his team deployed to simultaneously raid four targets in Tha Phae and Khuan Kalong districts, Satun Province. The raids focused on suspects involved in brokering bribes for the 2022 police sergeant exam, possibly linked to local exam corruption.
Authorities arrested three suspects: Ms. Anna, 35, a municipal employee from Khuan Kalong subdistrict, Khuan Kalong district, Satun; Mrs. Janya, 63, from Tha Ruea subdistrict, Tha Phae district, Satun; and Mr. Thanaphong, 64, also from Tha Ruea subdistrict, Tha Phae district, Satun. All were apprehended under arrest warrants issued by the Criminal Court on 8 Aug 2026 CE.
The suspects were handed over to investigators at the Crime Suppression Division to face charges of participating in a criminal group, conspiring with two or more persons to commit money laundering, and committing money laundering through their conspiracy and actions.
Additionally, officers used an arrest warrant to raid the home of a former village headman in Tha Phae district related to the same case. However, the former headman managed to evade arrest by fleeing beforehand.
Authorities will continue to investigate whether all the suspects are connected to corruption in local government examinations as part of the ongoing inquiry.
