Narathiwat Task Force Announces Curfew Tonight Until 6 AM Tomorrow After Multiple Violent Incidents

The Narathiwat Task Force has announced a curfew prohibiting leaving residences from 22:15 tonight (22 Aug 2026) until 06:00 tomorrow morning (23 Aug 2026) following several violent incidents across the province.

On 22 August 2026, Major General Yodawut Phuengpak, commander of the Narathiwat Task Force, issued a proclamation banning people from leaving their residences during a specified period and invoked powers under the Martial Law Act of 1914.

According to the announcement by the Administrative Reform Council dated 19 September 2006, martial law was imposed nationwide starting 19 September 2016. Subsequently, a royal decree on 31 December 2007 revoked martial law in certain areas but maintained it in others, including all districts of Narathiwat province.

On 22 August 2026, violent incidents including bombings and unrest occurred in multiple locations within Narathiwat province. It became necessary to deploy military, police, and civilian authorities to maintain order and ensure the safety of residents' lives, bodies, property, and overall peace within Narathiwat.

Under the authority of Sections 6, 8, 9, and 11 of the Martial Law Act of 1914 and Fourth Army Area Order No. 790/2568 appointing military officers with powers under the 1914 Act, military and civilian officials in Narathiwat are required to cooperate in carrying out their duties as follows.

1. No one is allowed to leave their residence from 22:15 on 22 August 2026 until 06:00 on 23 August 2026 within Narathiwat province. Exceptions for urgent necessity require prior permission from military officers, police, village headmen, or local administrative officials.

2. Military personnel responsible for Narathiwat will conduct operations to maintain order and security using powers for searches under Section 9 and prohibitions under Section 11 of the 1914 Martial Law Act, along with other powers under Section 8, as appropriate to ensure peace and security in Narathiwat.

3. Civilian officials are to follow military instructions related to operations, suppression, or maintaining order within Narathiwat province.

4. Residents of Narathiwat are requested to cooperate and facilitate military operations aimed at maintaining order and conducting operational activities.
