The State Railway of Thailand has temporarily suspended train services between Maruebo and Tanyongmas stations due to a bomb explosion disrupting the south; authorities have stepped up security measures in the area.
Following a bomb attack by insurgents on the railway line between Maruebo and Tanyongmas stations on 23 August 2026, concrete sleepers were damaged and broken. Fortunately, no injuries or fatalities have been reported, as previously reported.
Most recently, on 24 August 2026, the State Railway of Thailand (SRT) confirmed it is still suspending train services and keeping the tracks closed between Maruebo and Tanyongmas stations temporarily. This pause awaits a thorough security inspection before repairs proceed, along with adjustments to train schedules to ensure maximum safety for passengers and staff.
Meanwhile, at Yala railway station, other train services such as those heading to Nakhon Si Thammarat (departing Yala station at 06:35) continue operating normally, with railway security officers and volunteer security personnel closely monitoring safety.
Additionally, many citizens continue to inquire about train services to Su-ngai Kolok district, since rail travel offers a cost-effective and convenient option. The trains affected by the suspension on 24 August 2026 are No. 453 (Yala - Su-ngai Kolok) and No. 448 (Su-ngai Kolok - Yala), with train No. 448 scheduled to depart Yala at 08:28.
Once repairs are complete and the route is deemed safe for operation, the State Railway will promptly announce the resumption of services. Security officials in Yala province have elevated safety protocols to the highest level, particularly within Yala city. The frequency of inspections on all vehicles, especially cars and motorcycles, as well as on suspicious individuals and objects, has been increased to prevent any further attacks in the economic and community centers, aiming to reassure the local population.
