On 3 Sep 2026 GMT+7, reporters reported that hotels and coastal tourist sites in Takua Pa District, Phang Nga, have raised red flags to warn and prohibit tourists from swimming because of strong winds and waves driven by the southwest monsoon covering the Andaman Sea, southern Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand, resulting in heavy rain in some areas.
In the upper Andaman Sea, winds and waves are quite strong, with waves about 2-3 meters high, and over 3 meters in areas with thunderstorms. Officials and tourism operators have increased safety measures by raising red flags on the beaches to prevent tourists from swimming during this period of severe waves and wind.
Tourists are urged to strictly follow the advice of officials and hotels and must not ignore the red flags by swimming, as dangerous rip currents and strong waves pose serious threats to life.
At the same time, boat operators are asked to exercise greater caution when navigating and avoid areas with thunderstorms.Regarding small boats,in the upper Andaman Sea, they should refrain from departing until wave and wind conditions ease, to ensure the safety of passengers and maritime operators.
