The Director of Maharaj Nakhon Si Thammarat Hospital addressed the controversy over the "doctor scolding nurse" incident outside an examination room, apologized to the public for any impact, and confirmed that all parties have engaged in discussions to reach mutual understanding.
Regarding the controversy over a doctor angrily reprimanding a nurse on behalf of a patient outside an examination room, social media opinions split into two camps: some expressed gratitude and praised the doctor for understanding patients who had been waiting since early morning and criticized the staff's work, while others felt the doctor’s scolding and emotional outburst toward the nurse—who was merely coordinating—was inappropriate. The hospital later posted a clarification explaining the issue arose due to data migration of X-ray images from an old data center to a new one, as previously reported.
At 13:30 on 9 Sep 2026, at the Director’s office on the 8th floor, Dr. Jirawan Arayapong, Director of Maharaj Nakhon Si Thammarat Hospital, together with hospital executives, held a press briefing to clarify the matter. She apologized to patients who might have been affected, stating that the hospital’s system was not down, patient care continued normally, and nearly all patient information and lab data remained accessible.
The issue yesterday involved the HA system, which operates with two platforms, possibly causing incorrect access to data. In reality, the data center was not down. Earlier that morning, all involved parties were called to discuss and understand each other's problems, showing empathy for both sides. Regarding image storage, the hospital had used the old data system for 14 years, primarily storing X-ray images, whereas the new system can store a wider range of data and is essential for the hospital.
Regarding the clip from yesterday, the doctor intended well to examine patients, but because the data migration from the old to the new system was extensive and time-consuming, there were delays. Nevertheless, both old and new images could be accessed without problems; the issue was simply difficulty locating data in the system.
The hospital has a protocol where if access fails, the IT or X-ray departments provide support. After overall discussions, both the doctor and nurse understood that the old system remained accessible, reaffirmed that it was not down, and that all departments had been notified about the system usage. Most users have successfully adapted. The new system was implemented on 19 Aug 2026, while access to the old system remained available.
It is understood that the doctor’s intention was to work efficiently. Such situations can be resolved professionally through effective communication and requesting assistance appropriately. We have discussed this as we work across multiple professions and teams, emphasizing collaboration. The most important aspects are care and mutual respect. Generally, gentle communication improves teamwork. The Director understands that sometimes there is urgency to care for patients quickly. She apologized to patients for any delays, explaining that many people are involved in care, so kindness and empathy are necessary since the shared goal is patient service.
When asked about the nurse’s emotional state, the Director said she is very kind, not angry with the doctor, and continues to perform excellently. Regarding the clip incident yesterday, the hospital admits it did not wish for such an event to occur.
