Sinlert Sukhum, Chief of Phuket Provincial Police, welcomed Mr. Samuel Cloud (Senior Special Agent, Assistant Attaché), a senior official and liaison officer representing the USSS (United States Secret Service). He coordinates bilateral cooperation with Thai and regional law enforcement agencies. Mr. Cloud and his team met to strengthen collaboration in combating transnational crime, economic crimes, counterfeit U.S. dollar bills, and cross-border cyber fraud. On this occasion, he expressed gratitude to Phuket Provincial Police for their continuous cooperation and effective coordination.
On this occasion, certificates of appreciation were presented to Pol. Maj. Gen. Sinlert Sukhum for his sustained efforts in suppressing major cases in Phuket Province over the past three years. Certificates were also awarded to key investigative officers involved in significant cases, including Pol. Col. Somsak Thongklien, Superintendent of Wichit Police Station; Pol. Lt. Col. Rattanawut Nukaew, Deputy Superintendent of Investigation, Sakoo Police Station; Pol. Lt. Col. Wuttiwat Liangboonjinda, Deputy Superintendent of Operations, Wichit Police Station; Pol. Maj. Wichaya Kunnoy, Investigator, Wichit Police Station; Pol. Lt. Col. Sai Chankaew, Investigator, Kamala Police Station; Pol. Lt. Col. Nopadon Thonmanee, Investigator, Patong Police Station; Pol. Maj. Nakorn Chatpai, Investigator, Cherngtalay Police Station; and Pol. Sgt. Maj. Ratchata Promkhun, Deputy Investigator, Wichit Police Station. These officers demonstrated outstanding investigative results in major cases in Wichit subdistrict, Mueang Phuket District, and Kamala subdistrict, Kathu District, leading to effective regional law enforcement actions against criminal networks in Southeast Asia.
The meeting between Pol. Maj. Gen. Sinlert Sukhum and Mr. Samuel Cloud (Senior Special Agent, Assistant Attaché), representing the USSS for bilateral coordination with Thai and regional law enforcement, primarily aimed to thank Pol. Col. Somsak Thongklien, then Superintendent of Kamala Police Station in 2024, and the Kamala Police officers for arresting suspects involved in using counterfeit U.S. dollar bills. These suspects were foreign nationals residing in Kamala subdistrict, Kathu District, Phuket Province. The subsequent intelligence sharing with the United States significantly aided expanded crackdowns on counterfeit dollar trafficking networks.
Subsequently, Pol. Col. Somsak Thongklien was transferred to serve as Superintendent of Wichit Police Station, where he again led arrests of suspects involved with counterfeit U.S. dollar bills. This marked a major success in combating transnational crime. The Senior Special Agent and Assistant Attaché from the USSS met with Phuket Provincial Police leadership and officers to exchange information and express appreciation for their effective cooperation.
