Satun is starting to suffer as heavy rain continues, causing floodwaters to overflow into communities. The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation sent Cell Broadcast alerts warning of heavy rainfall across several districts—"Mueang Satun, La-ngu, Tha Phae, Khuan Don, and Khuan Kalong"—advising residents to be vigilant for flash floods, mountain runoff, and landslides.
On 25 Oct 2026 GMT+7, a reporter reported that continuous heavy rainfall in Satun Province caused water levels in the province’s four main canals—considered its vital waterways—namely Duson Canal in Khuan Don District, Mampang Canal in Mueang Satun District, Tha Phae Canal in Tha Phae District, and La-ngu Canal in La-ngu District, to rise rapidly. The water levels surged quickly in these main canals across the four districts, causing some areas’ water to approach and overflow riverbanks, flooding homes, farms, rubber plantations, oil palm estates, and fruit orchards.
Especially in Village 5 and Village 6, Ban Lum, Tha Phae Subdistrict, Tha Phae District, Satun, water in the canal began to overflow onto village roads, flooding over 10 homes. Residents rushed to use motorcycles to go out and buy supplies.
Some residents moved their vehicles to safe places as the water approached. Locals said flooding started on roads around midnight, when some were still awake, allowing them to safely store belongings on higher ground. By morning, they went out to buy supplies in preparation, fearing severe flooding like at the end of 2025. Meanwhile, authorities in other districts are also closely monitoring the situation.
Meanwhile, Kanit Khongchuay, Governor of Satun Province, has ordered all areas to be ready to respond to the water situation, especially in high-risk zones vulnerable to flash floods and mountain runoff.
The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation issued a Cell Broadcast warning of heavy rain in Satun Province, with continued rainfall expected. Residents are advised to watch for flash floods, mountain runoff, landslides, riverbank overflows, and stagnant flooding in lowlands, riverside areas, and foothills—particularly in Chaloong, Je Billing, and Khuan Khan Subdistricts of Mueang Satun District; Nam Phut, Khao Khao, Kamphaeng, and La-ngu Subdistricts of La-ngu District; Tha Phae Subdistrict of Tha Phae District; Khuan Don and Khuan Kalong Districts; and nearby areas.
Residents are urged to move belongings to higher ground, relocate vehicles, secure valuables and important documents, beware of electrical hazards, care for vulnerable groups, and closely follow official updates. For assistance, contact district chiefs, subdistrict heads, village leaders, local government executives and members, community leaders, or call the hotline 1784.
