Flash Flooding Hits Three Districts in Satun, Some Villages Cut Off

In Satun province, continuous heavy rains caused flash floods that overflowed riverbanks, flooding three districts. Residents are hastily moving their belongings and preparing to evacuate, with some villages cut off.

On 26 Oct 2023 GMT+7, reporters reported that flooding affected Satun province, impacting three districts, four subdistricts, and 14 villages. Manang and Thung Wa districts were hit by flash floods, while Tha Phae district experienced riverbank overflow. Heavy rain continues, and village roads are flooded and cut off.

Currently, areas under close watch include La-ngu and Mueang districts. In La-ngu district, the subdistricts Khao Khao, La-ngu, and Kamphaeng are monitored. The Kamphaeng Nuea Municipality raised a red flag warning residents to prepare for evacuation.

In Khao Khao subdistrict, the Khao Khao Subdistrict Administrative Organization stationed flat-bottom boats in Village 5, Ban Daram, a high-risk area as floodwaters are flowing into it. In La-ngu subdistrict, water has begun flooding houses in Village 11, prompting residents to urgently move their belongings.

Regarding relief efforts, the Border Patrol Police Unit 436 in Satun is providing assistance and distributing drinking water and medicines in Tha Phae subdistrict, Tha Phae district. Meanwhile, in Khlong Khut municipality, Mueang district—the main drainage area before water flows into the sea—water has started flooding houses in Village 7, Ruam Warin. The municipality had prepared for this situation since the day before. However, the situation in Satun remains unstable due to ongoing heavy rain.
