Cholnan points out that flooding in Hat Yai is the most severe, expressing concern that hospitals cannot cope, which could lead to a serious crisis. He advises the government to listen to all suggestions and to have a clear response plan.
On 25 Nov 2025 GMT+7, Dr. Cholnan Srikiew, a Nan MP from the Pheu Thai Party, spoke about the massive flooding in Hat Yai District, Songkhla Province. He said this is the largest event so far and that the government's response has not reached people effectively due to overall systemic unpreparedness.
Dr. Cholnan explained that modern flooding results from "rain bombs," meaning very heavy localized rainfall, which differs from traditional flooding. This has led to inefficiencies in the whole system, including warning alerts, incident commanders, and response teams. The problem lies in systemic issues, and the government should consider all parties’ recommendations with the people's interests as the top priority.
He also expressed serious concern about hospitals and healthcare facilities. Without proper preparation, they could face overlapping crises, affecting critical patient care and making patient transfers difficult and dangerous. Therefore, the government must have a clear disaster response plan, especially regarding water and electricity in healthcare settings, and should develop a national-level disaster prevention strategy seriously.
