HTMS Chakri Naruebet Deploys to Southern Thailand with Personnel and Equipment, Delivering Food and Drinking Water to Disaster Areas

The Royal Thai Navy has deployed HTMS Chakri Naruebet, along with personnel and equipment, to southern Thailand. The ship is delivering food and drinking water to disaster-hit areas, operating a floating kitchen, and utilizing helicopters and drones to provide assistance.

At 14:30 on 25 Nov 2025 GMT+7, at Chuk Samet Pier, Sattahip Port Authority, reporters observed several naval personnel loading donated drinking water and dry food, contributed by the private sector, onto HTMS Chakri Naruebet. The ship is headed to areas where flood conditions remain critical and urgent aid is needed. Besides delivering food, water, and relief supplies to people trapped in affected zones, the Navy is preparing to evacuate residents from high-risk locations. It will also support local agencies in recovery efforts and conduct preliminary assessments of damage in the affected areas.

HTMS Chakri Naruebet will depart from the Sattahip Naval Base today, accompanied by two helicopters, medical teams, field kitchen crews, and rescue equipment. The ship functions as a floating airbase for helicopter and drone operations during relief efforts. Additionally, it serves as a floating kitchen capable of producing approximately 3,000 cooked meals per day.

In an interview, a private sector representative who donated relief supplies to the Navy revealed that they brought 200 sets of clothing from their company to assist disaster victims in southern Thailand. Learning of the situation via Facebook, they immediately drove from Rayong province. Along the way, they tried to find stores selling drinking water to purchase additional donations but were unsuccessful. The representative expressed willingness to continue donating drinking water and dry food if the Navy still accepts contributions. Having relatives in the affected area who are currently unreachable, they wish to be part of the effort to help fellow Thais in need.
