The Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office revealed that the government is mobilizing all resources to address flooding in the south, instructing state media to provide real-time coverage to prevent fake news that could alarm the public.
On 25 November 2025 GMT+7, at the Government House, Ms. Supamas Isarapakdi, Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office, spoke about the flood situation in the lower southern region. She said the government is giving utmost priority to assisting people in all at-risk areas. The Cabinet has resolved to declare an emergency in severely affected provinces to enable relevant agencies to operate more effectively, integrate forces, and provide timely aid including evacuation, victim transportation, food, drinking water, shelter, and urgent survival equipment.
Ms. Supamas stated that the government assures the public that all assistance efforts are in full progress, especially under the gracious patronage of His Majesty the King, Her Majesty the Queen, and all members of the royal family, who have shown concern for flood-affected people by donating relief supplies, including royal survival bags and royal kitchens dispatched immediately to alleviate people's hardships.
Ms. Supamas added that regarding communication, she has instructed NBT Television, the Public Relations Department, and MCOT to adjust programming and expand real-time reporting to provide accurate and timely information continuously to the public, reducing confusion during the crisis. Since 24 November 2025 GMT+7, NBT TV has suspended normal programming to broadcast special coverage monitoring the southern floods live from the field, relayed nationwide via the National Broadcasting Services of Thailand radio stations, and through online channels such as Facebook, YouTube, TikTok, NBT Connect, and provincial public relations pages, especially Songkhla Radio FM 90.5 MHz, which serves as the main real-time information center for the south.
MCOT has joined in relaying special broadcasts from NBT, increasing news reports throughout all time slots, and mobilizing a network of 10 southern radio stations to reflect field situations and urgent public needs. Additionally, the government has developed a centralized real-time information system for the public, covering water levels, road breaks, electricity and water status, evacuation routes, and victim transfer points, disseminated through all media channels including Channel 9, Channel 11, Public Relations Department pages, Songkhla Radio pages, and FM 90.5 MHz, enabling the public to assess the situation and make timely decisions.
Opening a Donation Center to Help Southern Flood Victims
Ms. Supamas added that to support concrete aid for flood victims, she has assigned the Public Relations Department and MCOT to open a donation center for southern flood relief at NBT Television on Viphavadi Rangsit Road, Din Daeng district, starting 26 November 2025 GMT+7. The center will accept donations daily from 08:00 to 18:00. The public can donate consumables, clothing, medicine, and essential items, all of which will be immediately sent to affected areas with transportation support from Nok Air. Monetary donations can be made directly to the Thai Red Cross Society Disaster Relief account at Siam Commercial Bank, Thai Red Cross branch, account number 045-3-04637-0, eligible for double tax deduction. More details are available via NBT channels.
Ms. Supamas further stated that the government will fully utilize state media capacities, including the Public Relations Department and MCOT, to ensure the public receives accurate, clear, and timely information. She urged the public to follow state media for safety. The government is accelerating measures to minimize impacts and losses as much as possible.
Warning Against Being Fooled by AI Fabrications Stirring Up Trouble During Floods
Regarding the creation of AI-generated images to stir unrest during the flood crisis, Ms. Supamas said that during this major disaster, the concerning issue is the use of AI images to create false visuals causing public panic. She cautioned those treating the flood situation lightly that this is a life-threatening event requiring Thai people to unite and support those working hard in the area. She urged people not to do anything that would undermine morale.
She cited examples of AI-generated images of giant snakes posted on social media, which when real situations arise, could cause confusion like the boy who cried wolf, making people uncertain if images are real or AI-generated, potentially delaying rescue and causing harm. She emphasized not wanting the public to panic, as the government is fully integrating all agencies with commanders present on the ground, hoping for a swift resolution.
Ms. Supamas also noted that today’s world is full of social media, where the public often consumes both true and false news. For accurate information, she recommended relying on state media, which thoroughly verifies facts and serves as a central hub collecting data from all government sectors in Songkhla province. If the public wants information, they can contact state media, which then amplifies it appropriately.
Government Assures Prompt and Active Assistance Efforts
Regarding concerns about assisting people stranded in flood areas, Ms. Supamas said that Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul is deeply concerned, overseeing details from village and subdistrict levels to hospitals, emphasizing urgent transport of those needing help prioritized by severity. Minister of Public Health Pattana Promphat reported that ICU patients have been moved to safe hospitals, with helicopters evacuating critical patients from disaster-hit hospitals to safety. Additionally, boats, jet skis, police, military, and volunteer units in the area are mobilizing with increasing rescue equipment.
Ms. Supamas reaffirmed that the government is not neglecting the situation; the Prime Minister holds daily meetings to ensure rapid aid delivery. Multiple ministries have established shelters—such as the Ministry of Culture utilizing temple spaces and the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation using university facilities. She confirmed that shelters are fully prepared with food and lodging, and residents there receive proper care.
