The Emergency Operations Center for Flood Crisis (EOC) announced that flood relief payments of 9,000 baht will reach 26,000 households this afternoon. It noted that Hat Yai's water supply will be fully restored by 3 December. Regarding the 2 million baht death compensation, it remains under discussion whether those outside the emergency decree areas will qualify. Patients who died in affected areas are considered secondary victims and also eligible for 2 million baht compensation. The center urged agencies to use the ThaiD application for identity verification instead of documents.
On 1 Dec 2025 at 12:10 GMT+7 at the Government House, Mr. Siripong Angkasungklert, spokesperson for the Emergency Operations Center for Flood Crisis (EOC), reported that on 30 Nov, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul led the economic cabinet members to inspect Songkhla Province, especially Hat Yai District, to understand the real problems and hear from the private sector. This visit aimed to formulate policies for recovery and relief in Songkhla and other affected southern provinces. The overall flooding in Songkhla is now moving into recovery and relief mode. Currently, water supply is at 80% capacity, expected to reach 100% by 3 Dec. Coordination is ongoing to hire private sector assistance for garbage collection using 100 municipal waste trucks. The goal is for residents to return home within seven days and for Songkhla and Hat Yai to be clean within 14 days. The Prime Minister has also ordered improvements in food quality for distribution, shifting from boxed meals to community kitchens at 103 locations.
,relief compensationWhen asked about the criteria for the 2 million baht compensation for deaths within the emergency decree areas and whether those outside would receive the same amount, Mr. Siripong said this must be discussed further. The 2 million baht compensation previously announced was under the emergency decree, so some provinces outside this may not qualify under existing criteria. However, since the current massive flooding affects multiple provinces, this issue requires further talks. Additionally, kidney patients in affected areas who died are considered secondary victims—they are indirectly affected but should receive compensation as well. The Ministry of Public Health will decide on this matter. Regarding important documents, normally community consultations are needed since flooding does not affect entire provinces. But for this event, the Prime Minister has ordered that where entire areas like Hat Yai are flooded, any possible procedural steps should be simplified. Some initial inconvenience in the first 1–2 days was acknowledged as a government oversight in implementation. The Prime Minister has directed that such documents should be digitized or supported by technology. The ThaiD application contains relevant data that could be used to streamline processes. This approach is expected to lead to a reform of registration methods. The Ministry of Interior and government are aware and will expedite solutions.
Ms. Ratchada Thanadirek, committee member and spokesperson for the EOC, stated that the Prime Minister has insisted that relief funds must be delivered to flood-affected citizens by today (1 Dec). She confirmed the government understands the urgency and aims for the 9,000 baht relief to reach people promptly.as quickly as possible.Currently, Ministry of Interior data shows 26,000 affected households have confirmed bank accounts linked to PromptPay, totaling 239 million baht. Government Savings Bank is ready to transfer the first batch to citizens this afternoon (1 Dec) and will expedite payments to other flood-affected areas, including those outside Songkhla Province. Regarding additional compensation for insured persons who died beyond the 2 million baht, Section 33 insured persons will receive 50,000 baht, and Section 40 insured persons will get 25,000 baht. For damaged banknotes kept at home, the Bank of Thailand will deploy teams to exchange damaged notes locally for citizens’ convenience. Hat Yai Hospital has partially reopened, initially providing general, specialized, emergency, and flood-related disease services. The field hospital will treat chronic diseases. Full hospital operations are expected within 5–8 weeks.open for serviceat full capacity within 5 to 8 weeks from now.
