The Cabinet has approved in principle a draft ministerial regulation to raise the maximum wage ceiling to 17,500 baht starting in 2026. Insured persons under Section 33 will contribute up to 875 baht per month before another adjustment three years later.

On 2 Dec 2025 GMT+7, Ms. Kanjana Poolkaew, Secretary-General of the Social Security Office (SSO), stated that today the Cabinet meeting approved in principle a draft ministerial regulation specifying the minimum and maximum wages used as the base for calculating social security contributions for the year .... This wage ceiling adjustment is part of the ongoing development of the social security system. It aims to strengthen income security aligned with current wage levels, ensuring insured persons receive appropriately increased benefits across all areas, including illness, unemployment, disability, childbirth, and old age.

Ms. Kanjana added that the wage ceiling increase will be implemented in three phases to ensure appropriateness and reduce impacts on both insured persons and employers.

Phase 1 (2026-2028) will raise the maximum wage ceiling from the current 15,000 baht to 17,500 baht. Previously, insured persons under Section 33 contributed a maximum of 750 baht per month; this will increase to 875 baht per month.

Phase 2 (2029-2031) will raise the maximum wage ceiling to 20,000 baht, with a maximum contribution of 1,000 baht per month.

Phase 3 (from 2032 onward) will raise the maximum wage ceiling to 23,000 baht, with a maximum contribution of 1,150 baht per month.

1. Maximum sickness compensation will increase from 7,500 baht per month to 8,750 baht per month.

2. Maximum disability compensation will increase from 7,500 baht per month to 8,750 baht per month.

3. Maximum unemployment compensation will increase from 7,500 baht per month to 8,750 baht per month.

4. Childbirth assistance will increase from 22,500 baht per case to 26,250 baht per case.

5. Death assistance will increase from 90,000 baht to 105,000 baht.
