
The Prime Minister led the Cabinet and their spouses in a merit-making alms offering and laid floral wreaths to honor the birthday anniversary of His Majesty King Rama IX, which is also National Day and National Father's Day on 5 December 2025 GMT+7.
At 07:30 on 5 December 2025 GMT+7, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul, accompanied by his wife Thanon Niramis, presided over the Buddhist chanting and merit-making alms offering ceremony on the occasion of the birthday anniversary of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great, National Day, and National Father's Day on 5 December 2025 GMT+7. The event took place at Sanam Luang, Phra Nakhon District, Bangkok, attended by members of the Privy Council, the President of the Supreme Court, the President of the Senate (representing the Parliament President), the President of the Constitutional Court, heads of constitutional organizations, the Deputy Prime Minister and spouse, Cabinet members and spouses, the Secretary-General of the Cabinet, the Secretary-General to the Prime Minister, royal household officials, the Deputy Governor of Bangkok, commanders of the armed forces, the National Police Commander, heads of ministries or equivalent departments, the Bangkok Permanent Secretary, and representatives from private sector networks.
Upon arrival at Sanam Luang, ten monks took their seats on the designated platform. The Prime Minister lit candles to pay homage to the Triple Gem and incense sticks before the portrait of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great. Officials invited the monks to give precepts, who then chanted Buddhist scriptures. Following this, offerings of robes and other necessities were presented to the monks, who then gave blessings. The Prime Minister poured water in a ritual to receive blessings, paid respects to the Triple Gem, and bowed before the royal portrait. He then led participants in offering alms to 189 monks. Concurrently, provincial governments held similar ceremonies at their respective provincial halls, while Thai embassies and consulates abroad also conducted ceremonies. Government and private sectors organized events at embassies and consulates.
At 08:30 at the Royal Commemorative Park of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great, the Prime Minister and Mrs. Thanon Niramis, Cabinet members and their spouses, and the Secretary-General to the Prime Minister gathered before the royal monument to pay respects. The Prime Minister laid two floral wreaths on behalf of himself and the Cabinet, while Mrs. Thanon Niramis laid one on behalf of the spouses of Cabinet members. The ceremony concluded thereafter. Similar ceremonies were held simultaneously at provincial halls nationwide. Abroad, Thai embassies and consulates, along with government and private agencies, hosted ceremonies at their respective locations. Throughout December 2025, government agencies will conduct volunteer activities and public service projects in honor of the occasion.
